Procedure for non-commercial craft lottery-assigned

berthing in the Town Dock Facility.

A public lottery for berths took place in the Harbour Office on 24th May 2007

and was attended by members of the general public (applicants) and

administrative staff of WHA. The Harbour Master Captain Brian McJury

invited the members of the public in attendance to draw the lottery. The

lottery rules as published and listed below were followed to establish

allocation of berths in Warrenpoint Town Dock and to create a waiting list.

Any further applications, which must be in writing, submitted after the above

date are added to the waiting list as they are received.

1. All qualifying applicants will be contacted of date, time and place of the

lottery by letter.

2. Applicants or their representative only may attend the lottery.

3. The lottery will begin with each qualifying applicant’s name being

written on a strip of paper and placed in a specified container. All strips

will be the same in weight, colour and size.

4. The names will be randomly selected from container.

5. The names will be recorded as they are pulled out until all the available

berths are filled.

6. Once all berths are filled, the remaining names will be placed on the

waiting list in the order in which they are drawn.

7. If additional berths become available after the lottery, they will be filled

from the applicants, in order, on the waiting list.

8. If a qualifying application is received after the lottery has been drawn it

will be added to the bottom of the waiting list.

9. The waiting list will be available for viewing at Warrenpoint Harbour.

10. All successful applicants must meet the terms and conditions required

by Warrenpoint Harbour before a licence to berth can be issued.

11. Warrenpoint Harbour reserve the right to assign which berth number a

selected vessel receives.
